Trust Deficit

So basically, when I am writing this, I just come across a yt shorts video. In that shorts video, a jewellery was stolen from the family of two, a father and her daughter, and as we all know in India, jewellery is the next emergency fund, so the daughter is suffering from some serious illness, and for that they need money. And as the jewellery has been a stolen for which they have filed a FIR. Now the jewellery has been found by the police. But when they go to collect the jewellery, the police stop them, saying that this jewellery will now be submitted to the court. And then thereafter, they have to file a Case to get their property back which is very well very good due process of law, but the shorts unfolds how due process of law becomes the punishment of law.

So in order to get their jewellery back they file the case. The hearing starts. The government lawyer does not appear; the court then sets the next date, but again the government lawyer doesn't turn up. Meanwhile, their lawyer loots them with his fees and asks them to pay the bills for all snacks; their lawyer loots them by asking the other party not to show up and to the police and others, and this continues until they get the jewellery, but by the time her daughter died. They were not able to get their own jewellery to save the life of their daughter. And how in this due process, the poor daughter dies.

The shorts beautifully showcased how the system has failed them. Although the short video is a movie clip, it is nothing but a reflection of society. The system has, in reality, failed many people. It makes me cry that how the so called noble professions 'The lawyers and the doctors' To whom people go showcase their faith , put faith in them, and they loot and rob them just for the sake of money.

Trust Deficit is for real. Now, no more people have faith in lawyers, doctors, the judiciary and the government, as they once did. I'm studying law, but I would be hypocritical if I don't say this, but law is not as noble as it seems. In fact, now people don't even call it noble anymore. Likewise, I, being an educated man, have lost trust in doctors as well, though I should clarify, not all doctors. There are still good professionals out there who do their jobs properly without any ill intent, but how many they are there in numbers that we all know.

The reason of my trust deficit in doctors is my personal experience, how doctor treats a patient in a govt hospital and same doctor in his clinic, likewise how a doctor writes branded medicines and negate the use of generic if patient asks to do so, and being a person in pain he will do everything in his power to reduce the suffering and wouldn't take a risk to take generic meds. And thirdly, how most doctors go straight to the surgical method without thinking much about conservative treatment, and how sometimes their negligence can cause someone a lot. And this is not something that is my perspective; many people think this way,

Besides this, people have lost trust in almost all major institutions. Well, there are still some people who have faith in them. But the general opinion is that the judiciary, the government, and the ministers are corrupt.

How the recent protest over paper leaks unfolded is not hidden. How protesters were treated for demanding a resignation, just a resignation, asking accountability over paper leaks, over mishandling. The crowd of people who turned to the streets reflects the trust deficit in the system and how it has failed them. And when they turn to court to seek justice, court very casually say "don't waste our time we don't time to watch videos" this behavior is what is responsible for trust deficit.

Any society is built on trust. It is only this trust that ensures peaceful coexistence. Without the trust of the people that the governor of the Reserve Bank is actually promising to pay the said amount, it is nothing but a piece of paper. It is trust that makes that paper have value. It is trust that is the foundation of this human society. Without this trust, the foundation will shake, and eventually we will collapse. And therefore, there is a need for trust in the time of trust deficit.

So next time, whenever someone trusts you with something, don't break their trust; it can be as simple as keeping what they said to you to yourself. Be the person whom people can trust. On this note, I take a leave until the next one. ✌️
